Thank youA note of thanks to everyone who's been so encouraging about the diet. I really appreciate the links and positive thoughts :) Speaking of links, a big thanks to Nancy for the info on the low-carb tortillas. I ordered the mixed case of whole wheat and garlic & herb. Rich shared a great link for recipes and general information about low-carb dieting. Pam even emailed her special low-carb pizza recipe, and I bet she'd be happy to share it with anyone. We were going to make it this weekend, but I kept forgetting things at the grocery store lol. Tomorrow, I'm making a list! One thing about it, this isn't the cheapest diet I've ever been on. Meat is so expensive these days. Geesh I can remember when chicken was a cheap meal. Sure isn't anymore, is it? You know, I've been blogging since last June. It's started very slowly and I'm just a speck in the ocean, but I've met up with some of the nicest folks along the way. I appreciate every single one of you who take the time to drop by. I think I'm really beginning to enjoy this weblog stuff... Cheers :) 6:17:41 PM comment []

SARS and StonesIf you're keeping up with the SARS outbreak, you might be interested in the latest CDC statement. It's naturally a big concern to the many healthcare professionals I work with. There have been 62 reported cases in the United States thus far, and I have a feeling those numbers will go up quickly. None reported where I live, but I noticed an increased number of pediatric patients being admitted for RSV and other respiratory illnesses during the past two weeks. Our pediatric wing has been at full capacity which is somewhat unusual this time of year. I believe our physicians are showing the utmost caution when children present flu-like respiratory symptoms . Another note of interest - even the Rolling Stones refuse to travel to China because of the disease. "We are very sad and disappointed not to be able to do these concerts," lead singer Mick Jagger said Friday. "We have been looking forward to the shows in China for so long and will reschedule them as soon as possible." Front-row tickets for the Beijing show were going for $750 each, about the same as the average Chinese person's annual income. OUCH! And something I didn't know.... ..fans wouldn't have been able to hear some of the Stones' biggest hits, including "Let's Spend the Night Together" and "Honky Tonk Woman." The Chinese government banned those songs because of their sexual lyrics. I suppose this means they couldn't perform Parachute Woman, too.... 8:14:33 AM comment []
