A Foodie By Nature
Favorite Recipes, Little Known Food Facts, New Food Observations, The Latest Health News!

Since I've been collecting recipes for many years, WHY NOT share these special concoctions? Some are from friends, some from magazines or favorite cookbooks. All are yummy and most are low fat. I'm really getting interested in more low fat recipes as I get older. Seems that little bit of extra weight become a little harder to get off! I also collect food and nutrition tidbits from other sources and I will be posting those as well. Enjoy!

Testing: Something Amiss in the Garlic. People who chew garlic tablets to help their hearts while avoiding the smell may be helping nothing at all. By John O'neil.

Read the short article on garlic and then go to the website they recommend. If you want to purchase a good garlic they have tested, here is the link to the Vitamin Cottage. When you arrive at this site, do a search on "kyolic" (without quotes) if you are interested in the aged garlic - I like this because it's a capsule. I hate trying to swallow a tablet, coated or not!

A delicious spice mix for grilled or cooked anything is Penzy's Barbecue Seasoning, West Indies Style. I used the Ron Popeil rotisserie last night for some chicken legs and thighs and sprinkled this spice mix on them before starting the cooking process. It made the chicken so tender, yummy and moist! We have used this spice mix before, but only on pork ribs and then only mixed with other spices on the grill (husband thinks he's a BBQ chef!) The mix contains paprika, salt, sugar, allspice, nutmeg, cayenne, black pepper, garlic, ginger, cinnamon and tyme.  And I love my new rotisserie!
