Breathe Easy
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a restuarant often seen but in which, I had not eaten. The name: Thaifoon - Taste Of Asia. A wonderful place with an aluminum wall where water cascades over its surface and artifacts from all over Asia reside. Drinks and appetizers ordered, the ambiance of the place was noticably subdued yet classy. As I have not eaten much Thai food before, I began to peruse the menu to find something to my liking. Amonst the many varied items with exotic names, I spied one which caught my attention. Seared, Sesame Seed Encrusted Ahi. I consider myself rather a "connoisseur" where Ahi is concerned as it is one of my favorite dishes. This is a dish that most people either have a great desire for or total distaste, because in my opinion, Ahi can only be cooked one way...SEARED. If it's overcooked, forget it....undercooked...well, it's bait. Upon it's presentation, it's display was not only colorful and artfully arranged, but the aroma of the pink, pickled ginger and deep green of the steamed seaweed. The Ahi itself, was drizzled with a yellow soy-mustard sauce which was declared to be "spicy", of which, I can definately vouch. This stuff will clear up any type of sinus problem you may...or ever will, experience. After dinner, we were served the only dessert available, three scoops of mango, coconut and green tea sorbet. Quite an unusual dinner but all in all, it was a wonderful experience.
