Sail Away With Me
Yesterday I took a most relaxing and enjoyable outting to my local "hang-out", the beach. The day was warm and sunny, the breeze, salty and cool and bronzing bodies littered the sand on colorful towels. After a delightful lunch and likewise spirituous beverage, I walked the shoreline leisurely. Amongst the surfers and children happily splashing in the shallows, I viewed a particularly odd looking creature which had washed ashore just at the surfline. Possessing a deep aqua blue, suction-cup like foot and a clear gelatinous triangular "sail", it was to say the least, unusual. Obviously, some sort of jellyfish creature, I stooped to more closely investigate. So perfectly adapted to life on the surface of the sea, this tiny sailboat, kissed by the breeze and apparently blown off-course, had drifted to this shore, my shore....at just this moment. It gave me pause to ponder how we all are adrift on the sea of life. And how the tiniest of wind could so easily blow us off-course into the dangerous shallows, thereby finding ourselves unprepared for the pull of the tide and possible dashing upon the rocks. Perhaps this "By_The_Wind_Sailor" landed here ashore, at my feet, to reinforce the need to pay attention to the winds that drive our direction, to set a true course and be mindful that adversity can be a mere breeze away.
