A Balancing Act
If you are a frequent follower of this blog, you have no doubt noted that I have failed to post in the last few days. And while I offer no excuses, I do offer this explanation. Previously, I have mentioned the fact that I was, some time ago, summoned to appear in court for possible jury service. That day was Tuesday, and I did in fact, appear as requested. Sitting in these hallowed halls of justice, I could only think about the many people, victims and assailants both, who must be walking the same corridors as I. I sat, and listened, and watched, and finally...responded to, the questions put before me. Answering as truthfully as possible, and unlike many others who's only desire was to be rid of this "inconvienence", I was eventually selected to be one of the 12 jurors in the case put before this court. I swore to do my best to be as impartial, fair and just as I can be, weighing all the evidence and attempting to balance fact with fiction. So for the better part of nine days, I will be engaged in perhaps, one of the most important decisions in anothers life, that of a jurist. I have been admonished by the court not to discuss any part or sum of the case now put before me, but I can assure you that at the end of this experience, lies a most exceptional story in which, my voice definately holds in it, this defendants balanced future.
Today's Quote:
Poetic Justice, with her lifted scale, Where in nice balance truth with gold she weighs, And solid pudding against empty praise.-Alexander Pope
