Projects
Every since last November I've played a lot of golf. It started in mid-November. A combination of must-use vacation days, an unusually warm winter and my Father's retirement combined to give me numerous golfing opportunities. And for various other reasons I've continued to have (and to take advantage of) ample golf outings.
An externality (econ speak) of this golfing outbreak is the reduction of my handicap by two strokes. I've been a seven for years and am currently a five. I checked on this today while I was at the Davis County Golf Course. The computerization of golf has it's benefits.
But really, I've been playing too much. I can tell because there are times when I can golf and I choose something else. Now, that isn't happening every day, but it is happening.
Last Saturday, for instance, I didn't even bother to golf. Instead, I decided that it is time for me to get a few projects started (and hopefully finished) around the house. My back yard has been a disaster for the three years I've lived here. The western third isn't fed by any irrigation system, so it has been a great incubator for common local weeds. Nothing exotic, unless you consider that there are certain portions of my yard that I don't recognize. For instance, when rehabilitating my sprinkler system after the usual winter breakage I had a very difficult time locating the rain bird that somewhat services the northwest corner of my lot. It was overcome with weeds and even running the system didn't immediately reveal its whereabouts.
So, I've staked out a path, surveyed an area for building a gazebo, and calculated the costs of both. Today I stopped by the local rock quarry and arranged for the deliver of some of their fine products. This should arrive in my driveway toward the middle of next week.
What's the point of all this. Well, I don't really know. All I can say for sure is that having a couple of projects to work on is occupying my mind and my free time, whatever that is. And I like it..........
