Freaked Out

Mr. J, the night dispatcher, freaks out when I don't send my "arrived at destination" call in a timely manner.  Usually I send my arrival message at least 15-minutes before the arrival time because I try to be at least 15-minutes early for each of my stops.

This is the second time I've been to this particular Minnesota destination since I've been with my new company.  Both times I ran out of driving hours one hour away from where the stop is.  It takes roughly 55-minutes for me to get to the location from where I'm parked in the Minneapolis area.  Therefore, Mr. J sees that I'm parked at a location about an hour away but he doesn't see (for some reason) that I'm on the move when I leave to make the appointment in the morning hours.  That's odd since our trucks are equipped with GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) units.  They should know when we move the truck 10-feet.  Heck, they should see the truck move if we sneeze for that matter.

At any rate, about 15-minutes before the scheduled appointment delivery time, Mr. J sent me a message (like last time) asking me if I had arrived at the destination yet.  After I had sent in my "arrived at destination" QualCOMM message, he replied, in part, that he was relying on faith that I'd made it (and that's when he explained that he couldn't see my real-time position).

After being unloaded, I began the journey home.  Back in Wisconsin, a car went by me doing roughly 75-80 MPH.  I noticed a State Trooper passing by on the other side of the freeway.  About a minute later, that same trooper (I think) came zippin' by at near 90 MPH in hot pursuit of the other automobile.  Both vehicles exited at the next exit so I couldn't tell if the trooper had successfully captured the speeder. (However I could see a cloud of dust as the trooper flew onto the exit ramp!)

I napped a bit half-way home and then resumed the journey on another sunny, almost cloudless day.

Tomorrow I'll be heading for Chicago in the morning and then who knows where after that.

miles driven = 450
