I was able to sleep in this morning before starting out to the truck. I think that's a first!
I found an empty trailer at the warehouse (the last one!) and proceeded towards Green Bay, WI in warm and sunny weather. My loaded trailer was ready before the appointment time so I grabbed it and headed toward the Madison, WI area to drop it off. Once there, I discovered that it was not a "drop and hook" appointment, but rather, a "live unload" appointment. That meant I would have to wait for the actual appointment time nearly 4-hours away. Oh well, at least I took care of one problem beforehand (security at the delivery location said I had the wrong appointment number).
I went to a nearby truckstop and got caught up on my e-mail and surfed the Internet for trucking news.
Oh yeah, while riding from Green Bay towards Madison, a cold front came into the area. The sky turned black the closer I got to Madison. I wondered if there was the possibility of a tornado developing. Sure enough, I later heard that one had touched down right before I arrived in the Madison area. Later on, the sun came out a bit as continued to sprinkle on and off.
After being unloaded in Madison, I arrived back in Milwaukee, WI to be able to take a trailer to the Minneapolis, MN area the following day. However, dispatch had assigned the my load to someone else. That's goofy. You bust your toenails to make it back in time to take your 10-hour break before starting out the next time to make the appointment and they reassign you to some other load. Only in my case, they didn't have another load. I'm on the "extra" driver list. Hmm...tomorrow should be interesting.
