No snow (when I woke up this morning). That was surprising. I thought I'd wake up and there would be a blizzard going on. But hey, I'll take no snow!
30-miles down the road was a different story. Within 20-minutes of encountering the first snow flakes around the Eau Claire, WI area, the freeway was reduced to one lane. I was a bit surprised how quickly the snow accumulated. In fact in spots, it was near whiteout conditions. However, traveling wasn't bad for the most part--we all managed to travel between 50 and 55 MPH in the one lane most of the time.
Down the road the snow tapered off, the roads were just wet (not snowy), and traffic cruised along nicely.
I saw one truck that had been "parked" in the grassy median area along the way. Evidently, the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel or was forced off the road during the storm. He'd been there awhile--so this must have happened during the night hours. Then I heard another driver (who was with the same company) comment over the CB radio that the driver of the truck in the median had "put 'er in the ditch" another time this winter. Apparently, the driver likes to go too fast for weather conditions. Looks like he lost control of the rig again and had to let the rig go where it was going to go. Fortunately, he didn't hurt anyone or anything (as far as I could tell).
I arrived at the warehouse and and was done for the day (and weekend) around noon. Monday I'll be going two-times to Chicago, IL as it stands now.
Can't wait for Spring to arrive! Hey--Spring officially arrives in 2-days!
