Bumper Bowling (No--Not with a Truck!) Well the call never came--that is--my load assignment didn't arrive until this morning. Mr. N. told me that I'd be headed to Wausau, WI and Duluth, MN in the early afternoon. He even apologized for not getting back to me (or someone getting back to me) between 4-5:00 PM yesterday. I figured that no would call if there weren't any loads to be assigned. Still, I appreciate the his courteous gesture. All things being equal, this company does fairly good when it comes to looking out for the driver.!
Since I had some time on my hands (and I had a good night's sleep), I was able to go bumper bowling with my kids. My wife, kids, and a neighbor friend went to a local bowling alley and the kids played bumper bowling and had a blast. It was fun watching them as my daughter had only bowled twice before, and my son once before. The kids had the day off from school because it was a bankers holiday. Hmm...I wonder how many bankers actually got the day off. The teachers got the day off. It would be interesting how many bankers who had to work had to make an extra effort to find a sitter for their children since they didn't have the day off. I think the nation (especially the teachers) should celebrate a day off for truckers! Whadda think?
After the bowling event, I picked up the trailer and arrived in Wausau, WI in the late afternoon. It was warmer, believe it or not, in Wausau than in Milwaukee, WI (Wausau is about 200 miles NW of Milwaukee). I cleaned the bugs off the windshield and gave the cab of the truck an overall cleaning. Then I grabbed a bite to eat and caught up on some computer work.
Tomorrow will be a full 11-hours worth of driving. And it will be a delight to drive in--sunny and mild weather!
miles driven = 207
