After getting the kids off to school, my wife and I were able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at a nearby Greek restaurant.  They make a great Spinach and Feta Cheese omelet.  Incidentally, in my travels across the nation, when I've asked for the same type of omelet in various truck stops, they've looked at me cross-eyed (as if to say "what planet did you come from?")

Then I was able to catch up some items around the house while I waited for dispatch to notify me of the truck being finished at the repair shop (for routine preventative maintenance).

As of this writing, my truck is still in the shop.  It seems that the truck is making some funny sounds and the mechanics need to discover what is making them.  Hmm...I haven't heard any funny sounds emanating from the truck.  Then again I'm not trained to hear funny sounds emanating from the truck.  But if I heard 'em, I'm sure I could identify them as being funny!

miles driven =  8

PostScript: Shortly after writing the above, I received word that my truck was ready.  I decided to go pick it up myself since I wanted to make sure I was ready to go when a load assignment came.  Otherwise I'd need to go to the warehouse and then have someone give me a ride over to the shop to pick up the truck.  So, my family and I drove over to the shop and then followed me to the warehouse.  The kids got a kick seeing their daddy drive a big truck.  Now I just need a load assignment and for that I'll need to call night dispatch later on.

PostScript#2: Talked to Mr. J (night dispatch) later on in the evening.  We had a good 15-minute chat interrupted every now and then as drivers came in to pick up their load assignment papers.  It turns out Mr. J oversees a bunch of company accounts--not just the one I'm assigned to (all told--over 120-drivers).  He seems to handle everything OK and enjoys the job.  He didn't have a load assignment available for me at the moment.  I told him if one surfaced in the middle of the night to call another driver first--if one was available--as I wanted to keep my sleep patterns somewhat consistent for the week.  He advised me to call day dispatch in the morning to see what was available.
