When I awoke this morning, I had just enough time to go into the mini-truckstop and go to the bathroom before it started to downpour.  It seems just about every time I'm in this area in Iowa, it either starts raining or snowing as I'm getting up.  Just weird!

Well, the new Pope of the Catholic Church is Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) of Germany.  May he continue the great work as his predecessors before him--especially Pope John Paul II.  He was the logical choice since he was very close to John Paul II and as such is seen as a conservative.  The next succeeding Pope will be the real test to see if the cardinals kowtow to the world and select a more "liberal"-minded Pope appeasing those who think the church should "loosen" up a bit--especially Catholics in the West (namely the U.S.).

My truck's PM (preventative maintenance) was moved up from the end-of-the-month to today as I am running my truck too hard (per my dispatcher).  Right.  If I was running the truck hard I'd be averaging 2,800-3,500 miles-per-week.  Anywho, I dropped my truck off after my run today.  The truck is running well.  There's some minor adjustments to be done such as the driver-side door lock (it's very hard to unlock) and the driver-side windshield wiper.  The wiper doesn't wipe the upper inch or so of the window.  If I was shorter, it wouldn't make much of a difference.  However, since I'm 6'3", slouching down in the seat so that I can see out the window during a rain/snow storm doesn't lend itself to good posture (not to mention sore muscles, back, etc.).  So, I'm hoping that they can fix those two areas.

The family was waiting for me when I got home and we had a late supper which was very good.  Well, tomorrow I get to sleep in (feels like the weekend!).  After breakfast I'll see how the truck is coming along.  I'll probably end up getting a load assignment for Thursday morning (or perhaps tomorrow afternoon if the shop gets the truck done in time).

miles driven = 432
