Dispatch gave me the day off yesterday. That was awfully nice of them although it would have been nicer to get some miles added to the paycheck. I caught up some odds and ends around the house as well as designed/ordered some new business cards for my wife's nutriceutical and cosmeceutical consulting business.
I started early this morning to deliver to 2-locations in Madison, WI. Afterwards, it was back to the warehouse in Milwaukee, WI to pick up a load bound for Minneapolis, MN. I was somewhat surprised that the load was ready to go (usually I need to wait until early afternoon for a Minneapolis trailer to be loaded).
The ride up was pleasant. The weather has been on the cool side for the past week--even dipping into the low thirties at night. However, the cool weather means no bugs on the windshield!
Since my appointment wasn't until later that evening, I stopped at a truck stop on the way up and spent some time in the sleeper. That way, after the appointment, I could get back into Wisconsin before calling it a night. At the truck stop, I had to honk the air horn at another trucker. He was backing his trailer in and I was on his blind side. If I hadn't sounded my horn, he would've put a nice crease into my trailer. I seemed to have picked a real winner in terns of a parking space. I've watched a couple of other trucks make one attempt at backing their rigs next to mine and give up after one attempt (including the guy who almost nailed me).
Well, if everything goes according to plan, I'll be home for supper tomorrow evening!
