Hugo A Go-Go
I have the feeling that if the US ever decided to invade Venezuela we'd be able to take all the Venezuelan oil we wanted and there's not a whole lot Chavez could say or do about it. This is nothing but pure political grandstanding. He knows damn well we're not going to invade Venezuela, so he stands up and screams like a petulant 13 year old girl daring her father to slap her in public. [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]

Death and Dishonor
Commenter Keith Berry asks what the difference is between the Bush ad and this Kucinich ad. After Mr. Berry and I came to an understanding, I judged it to be a legitimate question. Calm down, my more Hot-Headed Readers, and... [baldilocks]

Kerry speaks
Kerry is correct to say that democracy cannot be imposed on an unwilling populace, but it is not at all clear that NATO and the U.N. have a better chance of success than the U.S. acting alone. In fact, everything we know right now about the situation says that the exact opposite is true.
The essential ingredient in success is for the majority of the people of Iraq to believe that we are truly there trying to help them, and to seize this chance to make their nation a better place. That is why our commitment to the June 30th transition is so important. It isn't an "exit strategy", a way of leaving Iraq before the election in November, because we aren't going to leave. There are no plans for a US pull-out; the troops being rotated in now are expected to stay a year, and the Pentagon is making plans for more troops to be rotated in a year from now to replace them. The 9-11 Hypocrisy.
Once again Democrats have attempted to stifle free speech. This time they are hypocritically accusing President Bush of "politicizing" 9-11, when in reality it is partisan Democrats and anti-Bush activists who have been politicizing 9-11 all along. When you dig into the people and organizations behind the anti-Bush propaganda you find the Democrats and Communists standing shoulder-to-shoulder in opposition to President Bush and the United States of America. Iraq Propaganda
The US Military is going digital.
The U.S. military will launch its own news service in Iraq and Afghanistan to send military video, text and photos directly to the Internet or news outlets. The $6.3 million project, expected to begin operating in April, is one of the largest military public affairs projects in recent memory, and is intended to allow small media outlets in the...
