Thicker than Oil.  Putting to rest the Left's Iraq deceptions.

I just filled up and paid $2.19 a gallon. How can that be, when the war was undertaken to help us get our hands on "cheap" oil? Where is the mythical Afghan pipeline when we need it?

"No Blood for Oil" (never mind the people who drove upscale gas-guzzlers to the rallies at which they chanted such slogans) was supposed to respond to one of two possibilities: American oil companies were either simply going to steal the Iraqi fields, or indirectly prime the pumps to such an extent that the world would be awash with petroleum and the price for profligate Western consumers would crash.

W. One of the Worst Presidents Ever?

I've noticed a lot of lefties like to call George W. Bush the "worst President of all time." Not liking Bush is their right in a democracy, but the worst? Come on. I wish they would tell me how Bush I was any better? He caused a recession and went to the trouble of invading Iraq and yet stopped short of getting rid of Saddam. Or how about Carter whose actions directly led to Marxists taking over in Nicaragua, an Islamic Revolution in Iran and a terrible period of stagflation? Or LBJ who mismanaged Vietnam so badly that many in our society are anti-any-war over 30 years later? Or Nixon who wanted to get out of Vietnam so badly he abandoned our allies in the south and doomed them to a life of slavery. He also enacted wage and price controls and was a terrible crook.  [Common Sense and Wonder]

Gay Marriage

Whether it's the correct policy is an entirely different question, and I don't believe that it is. I've long been in favor of legal gay marriage. But using court activism to force this kind of policy on an unwilling electorate is the wrong strategy for those who believe gays should be permitted to marry. It's wrong in part because it is foolish; it risks provoking backlash. But it's also wrong because it subverts our system.

The right strategy is to convince the electorate and to prevail within the democratic process, even if that takes a long time.  [USS Clueless

Yeah!  What he said!

Unfortunately for gay's, it will take a long time to repair the damage.  If the courts are allowed to legislate the damage to any good will gay's had built with the general public will be permanent.   You now worship the mayor of San Francisco as a hero.  In fact he has done more to destroy goodwill toward your cause than you will be able to rebuild in a decade.  CP

"We are not trying to negotiate with you. We are trying to destroy you."

JAMES BOND: "Do you expect me to talk?" AURIC GOLDFINGER: "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!" That's the guts of the conversation between the West and Islamofascism. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, the Western Left still...

The only possible response is that of the current US administration, which is to go on the offensive and proactively destroy threats. Airport screening, sniffer dogs on trains and nuclear detection teams at ports are all very well and good, but you don't win by having a good defence. We have to be lucky every single day. They only have to get lucky once. It's going to happen one day. It's already happened in the US, Bali and now Madrid. So what answer does the Left have? Apparently they think abject surrender may save their worthless hides.

Translation: Please kick our arses again. As any parent of a toddler knows, if you reward bad behaviour, you're pretty much guaranteeing more bad behaviour.  [Silent Running]

TV News Runs Hot for Kerry, Cold for Bush

According to data compiled for MediaChannel.org by international media monitoring firm Media Tenor, network news broadcasts in January and February contained on average nearly three times more negative news statements about President Bush than about Senator John Kerry.

57 Sources of Campaign Financing

By the way, the Kerry family business, H.J. Heinz Co. of Pittsburgh, operates 22 factories in the United States and 57 in foreign countries. I don't think that Kerry should shut down The Heinz 57, but he might drop the rhetoric and talk about trade responsibly. He should support, not trade's contraction, but its expansion, like George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and every president since Herbert Hoover.

Looks a lot like the corporation that has provided John Kerry with the financial ability to not only enter this race, but stick with it when the contributory chips were down, is basically the epitome of the type of business model that Kerry has been busy trashing in his stump speeches. John Kerry wants to be the 2nd African-American president. I must have missed the first. NO MATTER! I'm going to convert ya Kerry into a real African-American. Better yet, I'm going to make you down with all the bruhs and sistas in da hood, yo!   [The S-Train Canvass]

Following the Money

After George Bush's use of 1.5 seconds of 9/11 footage in his initial campaign ads, several families of 9/11 victims protested loudly, receiving a great deal of publicity from their accusations that the Bush campaign was acting inappropriately in mentioning 9/11 during the campaign. Only after some digging did the press mention that these same families had long since formed the "September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows" -- an antiwar campaign funded by George Soros, the main MoveOn.org financier and a man who has pledged to buy the presidency for the Democrats. As the March 9th New York Post puts it.  [Captain's Quarters]

Terrorist Math

I just received this email from a reader.

Hi Lee, Love the site! I have a question that came up in my class today, can you help? I teach english in Japan. My class today was a group of adults (26 to 65). One student is going to England soon, and he commented that Spain was bombed because they helped the USA fight the Islamic terrorists. He is worried bacause he fears that the UK (also our ally) will be in for a bombing of their own. I responded that there... [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]

My definition of sophistication

I’m somewhat annoyed by the assertion that this act was “sophisticated,” and hence the work of those brilliant stratgerists of Al Qaeda. My definition of sophistication is somewhat different: it’s an unmanned drone flying over Pakistan, piloted by a guy in Florida, dropping a laser-guided bomb into the passenger cab of a truck full of Taliban. That’s sophistication. Synchronizing watches on detenators is not exactly all that tough. I’ll tell you what’s difficult: a dozen nervous sweating Swedes pulling off 13 simultaneous detonations in Saudi Arabia, where they might stick out. Spain of course is most Spanish; hence the name. But I assume there are enough immigrants living in Madrid, or native-born people of Arab origin, so that a guy walking through a train station with a backpack is about as unusual as a tourist in a loud shirt peering at a map. Gas Buddy

Since gasoline prices change frequently and may vary by as much as 20 percent within only a few blocks it is important to be able locate the service station with the lowest priced fuel. GasBuddy Organization web sites allow consumers to both share information about low priced fuel with others as well as target the lowest priced stations to save at the pumps!

Undetermined?  Give me a break!

He betrayed his own brothers in arms.  I would consider that rather rude!  CP
