The QualCOMM (Q) unit "only" woke me up twice during my sleep. Grrr....I sent a friendly reminder to my dispatchers asking them to refrain from sending Q messages while I'm sleeping.
Today's trip took me to Aurora, IL. It was a beautiful day for driving.
I encountered the same slow ice cream truck (the kind that goes through neighborhoods) as I did 2-days ago. It was driving on the freeway (Chicago Loop / I-94 West right where the White Sox play) going less than the speed limit and had its right turn signal on the whole time. I believe it was the same driver as my previous encounter. I (and a couple of other drivers) almost tore our hair out trying to safely pass this vehicle. Today it took me forever to get around him. And then when I finally got into the left lane to pass him, he turns in front of me. Arrgghhh! I swear if I meet him again tomorrow, I'm going to phone into his boss and tell him what a nuisance he is on the road. If he can't go the minimum speed limit, he should be off the road!
On the way back through Chicago, I caught the last 25-second finale of the lakefront fireworks. Actually, the big fireworks are tomorrow. I don't know who was lighting them off this evening, but they sure looked good next to the Chicago skyline. Surprisingly, I didn't see a whole lot more firework displays. I guess the majority will happen tomorrow evening.
Well, I've got seven and three-quarter hours remaining in my 70-hour week. So tomorrow I should get a one-way load to Indiana/Illinois and then head for home arriving on Sunday. If I don't make it, I'll be doing a 34-hour restart somewhere between Chicago and home (and listening to a lot of fireworks!)
miles driven = 477
