Today's drive to Chicago, IL was relaxing--even knowing I was going to be late to the appointment. Yesterday I ended the day at 5:45 PM. Therefore, the earliest I could start this morning was 3:45 AM. So, after hooking onto the trailer and performing my pre-trip inspection, it was 4:00 AM. That left me one hour to drive to my location in Chicago (which was around 90-minutes away).
Anyway, as much as I hate being late to an appointment, sometimes, there's not much you can do about it. At the delivery location, no one questioned my tardiness. My guess is that dispatch called them and let them know I was running late. Sure hope they told the truth (grin) as to why I was late.
I loaded some merchandise from that location and drove to another destination in Chicago. There I unloaded it and then returned back to the warehouse.
Since there was nothing else for me, I was done before high noon.
As I was leaving, I was notified that my wife's dad was in critical condition. He (and my wife) were attending a funeral for my wife's uncle when he began experiencing symptoms similar to a person who is having a stroke. Later at the hospital, it turns out that he didn't have a stroke but probably had a mild heart attack. It appears that he will be OK--but still a scare for my wife and family.
Well, I drove 1,886 miles this week. I do hope that figure goes up for next week.
miles driven = 215
