So much for a good night's rest. At around 2:00 AM, Mr. J. (night dispatch) called me and requested that I take a load to Chicago, IL. Another driver was unable to take it at the last minute and I was the only one available. The earliest I could start driving was 5:00 AM. So, I got some more sleep and then headed to the warehouse.
I was amazed that I didn't run into a serious traffic jam going through downtown Chicago around 7:00 AM. I guess I got through there before traffic got snarly.
After unloading, I headed back to the warehouse and discovered that my truck was still having some work done to it. I was assured it would be ready for me by Monday morning when I head to Minneapolis, MN.
Later at home doing yard work, I saw (and heard!) the Navy's Blue Angels out and about practicing for their weekend performance in Milwaukee, WI. I remember seeing them in action growing up--I've always been in awe of those fly-boys (including the Air Force Thunderbirds) . I just might have to take my son to see them this weekend!
