My noon delivery was cancelled. So I was given a shorter routed stop in the Chicago, IL area.
Once completed, I zipped back up to the warehouse in Milwaukee, WI and was assigned a trip to Iowa.
However, before I could leave, I had to switch tractors since mine was going into the shop tomorrow for it's 25,000-mile PM (preventative maintenance). This was the same tractor (the one I would be driving) that I picked-up yesterday in Kaukauna, WI. The current driver of that truck (or a previous driver/s) was a smoker. Yech! I used to smoke many moons ago. Even so, I do not enjoy the smell of a truck cab that has been smoked in for awhile.
So, I hauled all the essentials out of my truck cab and deposited them into the other truck. Then I hooked onto the trailer and away I went.
I stopped at the largest truck stop in the world (Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott) for a bite to eat. They had an antique truck show going on there. I didn't have the time to spare and walk around there, but they had some very nice trucks on display in the parking lot.
I arrived at my 1st stop and settled down for the evening. Tomorrow, I'll complete two stops and then pick-up a "back haul" (picking freight up and transporting it back to the warehouse).
miles driven = 409
PostScript: I found that the antique truck show that was going on at Iowa 80 Truckstop was actually part of their annual Trucker's Jamboree festival.
