2003 Denver Municipal Election - Events 3/3-3/9

If your candidate is not listed tell 'em to get some information out.

Sue Casey, candidate for Mayor, has two meet and greets listed on her website.

John Hickenlooper candidate for Mayor lists the three forums on his schedule. He also mentions the forums in e-mail.

Don Mares' campaign sent event schedule information in e-mail. The format is exactly what is needed. Date, time, address, and a phone contact. The e-mail information is not in sync with the website. That's not a good idea. I now have to monitor two lists for events. The e-mail should alert me to changes from the website schedule primarily and later in the doc print the regular schedule for the week. There is also a broken deep link to the Denver Rocky Mountain News. Oops.

The Mares campaign is doing a good job of applying web technology using Yahoo! groups for their e-mail list and a well designed website. Many campaigns are falling behind however. Candidates, start your weblogs. If you already have a website you'll be able to link to your weblog. Take advantage of the opportunity to talk to the voters in your own voice.

Below is the event stuff from the Mares campaign e-mail:

March 3, 2003 -- West Washington Park Mayoral Forum 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Washington St. Community Center, 809 S. Washington St. Contact: Whitney Self 303-733-6273 ext. 12

March 5, 2003 -- Coffee Meet and Greet in Northwest Denver 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM 3836 King St. Contact: Charlie and Jenny Schley 303-480-9774

March 8, 2003 -- Walk with Don on Saturday 10:30 AM, City Park, by the statue of the bear, behind the Museum of Nature and Science RSVP: 303-733-6273 ext. 17, ask for Lisa, Charles, Molly or Matt

March 9, 2003 -- Coffee Meet and Greet at Rep. Alice Borodkin's house 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM 8101 E. Dartmouth Contact: Whitney 303-733-6273 ext. 12 or whitney@maresformayor.com

Elizabeth Schlosser, candidate for Mayor, lists two events this week, right on the front page of her website. I still like this idea the best. Schedule right up front. For one thing, if someone is on a dialup they don't have to wait for two pages to load to see the schedule.

Penfield Tate, candidate for Mayor, joins the other candidates that have a well designed website. While not posting the events on the front page the events link is first. That's a good idea. I'm not sure when the new website went up but I'm thinkin' that it had to be in the last week. I'm pretty sure he was still linking to his state website last Sunday.

Rich Garcia, candidate for City Council District 1, has his planned events listed here.

Alby Segall, candidate for City Council District 5, is having breakfast for Real Estate Developers this week. Here's the link to his calendar.

Coyote Gulch Turns One

I started this weblog a little over a year ago. The first post that shows up talks about posting from my Linux laptop (I now use Apple gear). Thanks to my readers for encouraging me to keep going.
