2003 Denver Election for Auditor
Bill Wells is trying to establish the need for Denver voters to elect an auditor with no city ties. In this article from the Rocky Mountain News he puts the 3 current members of City Council, that are now running for Auditor on the spot, for an audit performed in 2001 by KPMG. The other candidates stated that they had been told that the problems cited in the audit had been fixed. That would have been normal procedure. An audit finds a problem, city agencies propose a solution, and then implement it.
