2003 Denver Mayoral Election

Two articles from the Denver Rocky Mountain News today. First, Auditor Don Mares wants to lift the veil of secrecy around whistleblowers and give access to the Mayor for all city employee along with giving performance audit power solely to the City Auditor. The second article is a short one about the restaurant and hospitality industry and their support of Hickenlooper and Zavaras.

Here's the coverage on Mares' proposals from the Denver Post. "For too long, people who have cheated the city have not been held responsible for their abuse," Mares said Monday. "For too long, agencies like the auditor's office had their hands tied when it came to rooting out mismanagement, and for too long employees of the city have not reported fraud for fear of being retaliated against." Amen to that.

The Post is also on Zavaras for his college record. From the article, "Political experts say Zavaras and all candidates would be wise to avoid blurring details about their backgrounds." Collect the most money get the most scrutiny.
