2003 Denver Municipal Election
The Rocky Mountain News is running an article about the effect a war in Iraq may have on the May 6th election. The contention is that it will be hard to bring up tough issues after a war starts and that since Ari Zavaras is the front runner a war will benefit him. From the story, "Political analysts say Denver's mayoral candidates will struggle for coverage if America goes to war in the Middle East. And that would benefit Zavaras, a former lawman who has raised more money than his rivals and is ahead in some polls."
The Rocky lists several forums being held this week in this article.
Westword has a column dealing with the election (sort of) and yard signs. From the article, "And Denver officials recognize that free-speech fights can crop up on even smaller properties. So if husband-and-wife homeowners disagree on their favorite candidate, each is allowed to post a campaign sign." Exactly the problem at my home usually.
