2003 Denver Mayoral Election
Don Mares, candidate for Mayor, thinks that the next mayor needs to work with the Denver Public Schools to "help provide quality education for children in Denver from preschool through their senior year" according to this article in the Denver Rocky Mountain News. When called on the fact that his own children attend private schools he said that it was because the GT track was full when they registered. He says his daughter will attend George Washighton High School. Mares attended Holy Family High School not the public schools. He's right though to bring up the public schools as an issue. He seems to be trying to differentiate himself from the pack regarding education, opportunity for families in Denver, along with affordable housing. Good causes all.
