Fences
Today I stopped to watch three beautiful red-tailed hawks, effortlessly soaring above a vast wilderness area. I say "vast", for in my terms it seemed extremely large but certainly not for the hawks. Surely it was just a convenient place that they could catch an updraft rising from the nearby cactus and chaparral covered hills. So graceful and soothing were their circles that I nearly lost all track of time just watching them. What freedom that must be. To glide above all obstacles and feel the breeze upon ones face. But here I stand, on the ground, behind a barbed-wire fence...merely a spectator to this winged dance.
