Lost Art of Letters
Long ago and a lifetime away, I use to write a great many letters. Notes to acquaintances, missives to friends and letters to loves. Sometimes just a card or greeting...sometimes a treatise of thoughts. In days where written words conveyed the most inner of affections and ruminations. It is true that letters can mingle souls and provoke deep, passionate thoughts. Sent to far off places all around the world with anxious anticipation of the reply which never arrived soon enough. Exchanges have, with time, lessened. Letters now turn to electronic email and confidants drift away slowly but surely. Life has transformed to a quicker pace, less formal and without the fervor. Perhaps we have lost sight of the great art known as letters. How they felt and what they brought. But I remember with fondness those days of pen and passion, and long for their return.
Today's Quote:
Sir, more than kisses, letters mingle souls; For, thus friends absent speak.-John Donne
