Eye of the Beholder

I had my annual eye exam yesterday with my optometrist and as I stared through the dimly lit room at the letters on the wall, I couldn't help but wonder about a persons....eyes.Eye That most undisputable physical characteristic that is so unique to each person. When I first meet someone, it is ALWAYS the eyes that I first notice. For isn't it a truism that "the eyes are the window to the soul"? Sometimes they are filled with truth, sometimes they lie. They can emote a multitude of feelings from anger to passion, from hate to lust and from sorrow to joy. Sometimes they playfully dart about seeking others with which they can flirt. Other times, they may seek to hide and quickly avert any type of direct contact. The eyes have such presence that we even write songs about them, "Crying in the Chapel", "Can't take my Eyes off of you", "Brown Eyed girl", "Cry me a river", "Smoke gets in your Eyes", "Everytime I close my Eyes", "See you in September", "Eye of the tiger", "When doves Cry"...and I could go on and on...but you SEE my point! So the next time you meet someone take the time to really look into their eyes and look for the passion within. They are a most valuable asset whether you are looking at them or through them. Perhaps we need just to take the time to see the possibilities in our eyes and of those we love, and thank the stars above for this wonderful gift. (p.s. it reads: H S O N V C Y...and that my friend is 20/20)

Today's Quote:

The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter-often an unconscious, but still a truthful interpreter-in the eye.-Charlotte Bronte
