MORE MEDIA LIES ABOUT GUNS

"Frank Main is a crime reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, and frequently writes about guns. As such, one would hope that he would have at least a passing familiarity with the subject. Unfortunately, Mr. Main is a liar. I know this, because I've written to him in the past, politely correcting his factual errors, and he's never responded. The inescapable conclusion: he knows better, but he lies on purpose to fit his agenda. Fair enough."   [The Spoons Experience]

Abu Ghraib != (does not equal) My Lai

"Dear Diana Moon. I know a lot about My Lai (I was leading demonstrations against the Vietnam war at the time). I even know who Hugh Thompson is. And in all my discussions of My...

It's not that I'm offended at you personally; it's that you represent with this argument a form of 'argument by hyperbole' that's too common in modern discourse, and sadly, has completely captured the left today. 'Bush=Hitler' and commenter Jussi's quote that: 'The US Army,at the Abu Ghraib, acted like Gestapo.Like GPU.Like Saddam's Mukhabarat." No, they didn't."  [Winds of Change.NET]

Bad Apples

I've always insisted that many people might seem smart and efficient and good at what they do. But I've always wondered why people who have these qualities often lack common sense.  [Attaboy]

Evolution vs Creationism

"Sorry, I just don't buy it. Now I'm not arrogant enough to sit here and say that God doesn't exist, because truth be told, I have no idea. I never attended church as a kid and the only time I go now is for weddings. I have no disdain or dislike for religion, just have no use for it. Perhaps if I had grown up with the bible, I'd have more faith and it'd be easier to swallow the premise behind the bible. What do you think?"   [Dog Snot Diaries]

Well now ... we certainly can't have students wanting to learn more than demonstrate can we?

Bad Campus Environment?

"Now why would a college official act as if it's a bad thing that students want to focus on education? Well, at UCLA, they are apparently upset by the trend..."

"We can all be thankful for the sensitivity Nelson showed by not "generalizing." Refusing to generalize must have required great restraint on his part, surrounded as he is now by so many (too many?) students who for some reason believe "the way to success is through education," which apparently causes them to study so hard they don't have time for "things others may deem relevant," such as demonstrations."    [The Bitch Girls]

vast wasteland

"While at the NDNA convention, I spent time channel surfing. This is something I don't get to do at home because of our one-channel "limitation". By choice, we chose not to get cable or dish. After clicking through endless channels...I have decided it's not really a limitation."   [Julie Neidlinger]

The Asset Covering Starts

"Is this the type of officer corps the troops are subject to these days? Yes there are leadership problems, starting with you, Sir. You lead your troops, not the other way around.

It’s becoming clear that the monsters who perpetrated the abuse on the Iraqis weren’t the only ones in need of “training.”   [baldilocks]

A closer view of heroes

By Oliver North

"Three weeks ago, Andy Rooney, a syndicated newspaper columnist and commentator for CBS News' "60 Minutes," wrote a column titled, "Our soldiers in Iraq aren't heroes."
Mr. Rooney is part of a team of CBS News "journalists" who, especially over the past few weeks, have gone out of their way to protest administration policies in Iraq and the War on Terror. Interviews with former White House adviser Richard Clarke and The Washington Post's editor Bob Woodward to promote their respective books were only forums to condemn and criticize President Bush and the Iraq war. While unfair and disappointing, such bitter behavior is expected from those long openly contemptuous of this president.
But for Mr. Rooney to sit atop his Ivory Tower in New York City, where this War on Terror began, attack our young men and women in uniform, and essentially question their patriotism, is about as low as it gets."  [washingtontimes.com]

The Mercury Amalgam Scam:  How Anti-Amalgamists Swindle People

"More than half a century ago, Orson Welles panicked his radio audience by reporting that Martians had invaded New Jersey. On December 23, 1990, CBS-TV's "60 Minutes" achieved a similar effect by announcing that toxins have invaded the American mouth. There was, however, a big difference. Welles' broadcast was intended to be entertaining. The "60 Minutes" broadcast, narrated by veteran reporter Morley Safer, was intended to alarm -- to persuade its audience that the mercury in dental fillings is a poison. It was the most irresponsible report on a health topic ever broadcast on network television."
